52 Ancestors Week 24 - Heirloom


I treasure the "fancy dress" my maternal grandmother made.  

I have an original photo and the dress.

I don't ever remember seeing the hat though.

    As someone who does a lot of quilting and fibre art, I love this heirloom you have. Beautifully creative piece that wouldn't look out of place today. Too bad you don't have the hat too - what a great outfit! Thanks for sharing.

    It looks like your grandmother was avant garde. Was she involved in art in other ways, too?

      She did lots of sewing, knitting and crocheting until her hands wouldn't work properly Vera. She didn't teach me to sew (I'm hopeless), but she did teach me to knit and crochet.
